What is global warming? Global warming is the polar bears and penguins fighting for their lives because their home is melting. Global warming is seventy-degree weather in the middle of February. Global warming is the rapid increase in tropical storms. Global warming is the California drought. Global warming is the harmful wildfires occurring in our forests (NRDC). Many people, mostly politicians, believe that global warming is a problem that doesn’t exist. Global warming is a real issue that we cannot solve unless we all work together to fix it. The results of climate change are detrimental to the way we live our lives and the animals of the planet as well. If we as a species don’t acknowledge the problem, it cannot be resolved. The first major problem produced by global warming is deforestation. Deforestation is the permanent destruction of forests in order to make land available for other uses (Live Science). Patches of land being destroyed each year are measured to b e the size of Panama (National Geographic). A lot of deforestation is caused by man themselves. Farmers cut down trees to make room for more crops and heat their homes and loggers build roads so they can get deeper and deeper into the forests. Deforestation’s biggest impact is the loss of many habitats. Seventy percent of all the animals and plants on earth reside in forests and they cannot survive without it (NG).
